Remember This

Happy Memorial Day!

At Fantabulous Cricut this week, the challenge was to "Remember This" (Create a project to remember a special person, time or anniversary). I decided to remember my Mother in a layout.

Finished layout: 12" x 12"

Materials:
Cardstock: Dark Brown, Medium Tan, Light Tan, Cream, and Patterned Paper.
Cricut Cartridge Paper Lace I Love You, page 60 (Lace 1 Base and Lace 1 Shadow Base)
Cricut Cartridge Lyrical Letters "M", "e", "and", "o", "m", Various pages
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Stylized Flowers
Copy of Photograph
Two Small Gold Brads
One Large Brad
Mounting Tape

This was taken oh, so may years ago...I think I was about 10 or 12 years old. As I have said before in an earlier post, I lost my mother about 20 years ago.  My mom always loved this picture. I think she would like this layout.

Take the time to remember something or someone special. I know it brought me a smile (and a tear).

Don't forget also, this is Day 3 of the BugBites Bug Hop. If you want to win some blog candy, leave a comment on Saturday's post (click here). To start from the beginning of the hop click here...you could win some blog candy at all the trail stops along the way.

Have a great Memorial Day!

You LIght Up

It feels like it's been forever since I have made anything. Between working on the projects around the house and my new work schedule (which is temporary), my craft area has been very quiet. I was planning this masculine card for two challenges but I didn't get it finished in time. So I'll just be posting it and hope that you like it. I was inspired by Mary at Cardz TV. She has a video on how to make a Twisted Easel Card. I thought I would give it a try. (Thanks Mary).

I really like the way it turned out (simple but to the point). The white strip is for any personal message.

Other Projects and Acknowedgements

I want to apologize for not having any crafting for a while. We are in the very long process of redoing a bedroom for my son, Jason. First, he had to go through about 20 some years of stuff and empty the room. That in itself, took way too much time. However, with work schedules and other projects like rebuilding a play area and building the new garden...what are you going to do? Then, I patched the holes and nicks, sanded and wiped everything down on Saturday. Sunday was Mother's Day and well, I was invited out for the day. Yesterday, we ripped the rug out of the room. So today is painting day (ceiling, walls and trim)...rug is scheduled to come on Thursday.  Of course, then it's the process of getting everything back into the room.( I am not looking forward to that! Way too much stuff! lol) And guess what, right after that is done, we get to move two more rooms around. My other two sons are trading bedrooms...at least I don't have to get rugs for either of those. I'm hoping that these projects will be completely finished by the end of the month. Oh, guess I have to open the pool sometime soon too. It's always something...isn't it?

However, with all of this, I do want to acknowledge a few things and say "Thanks". First, I just found out that via Randon.org I was the winner for the Cricut Cartridge Chaos Challenge last week at More Than Favors. I now qualify for the drawing at the end of the month for a cartridge. (Yea!). Secondly, I received notice that I was chosen to receive a three month membership for the Cricut Circle from Susan at Busy with the Cricky. (Woo Hoo). I can't wait to try it. And last, but not least, I received an award from Crystal at Little Creations. Thank you so much.

Here are the rules for the Cricut-tastic Award:

Cobi and Gianna

Second post for today...

Well, I actually made a layout...surprise, surprise, surprise! You may be seeing more of them in the future...we'll see........

Finished Layout: 12" x 12"

Graduation Card

Well, I'm back...finally! Feels like I have been gone for a long time! If you read one of my earlier posts, you know that my monitor died and that I could not use my Design Studio. (I was SO lost without it!) Anyway, I wasn't sure what I was going to do...well, you won't believe this but it just started working again. WOO HOO! I am not questioning what happened, just happy that it's back.

We have a graduation next month for our niece. So, I also thought this would be perfect for two challenges...Die Cuttin' Diva's (sketch) and Celebrate the Occasion (Graduation).

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Black, Yellow and Two Patterned Papers

Cricut Design Studio
Cuttlebug Embossing folder Swiss dots
Inkadinkado Happy Everything Stamp Set, Congradulations
Yellow Embroidery Floss

The big tassel on the side is not attached except by the embroidery floss at the top, so it swings freely. I really like the way it turned out.

Hope you like the card. I would love for you to become a follower and/or leave a comment....thanks for stopping by....

Going to go work on another card or two, maybe even a layout (and finish the wash...lol)...

I hope that you are able to spend some time with your mother this Sunday. I lost mine in 1991...July will be 20 years. Wow...is it really that long? I miss her so much. There are still times that I go to pick up the phone so I can tell her something important that is happening. I know she is with me and always looking out for me.That thought gives me comfort. Therefore, I dedicate this card to all the mothers out there (living or not).

Leave me a comment...I always love hearing from you...thanks!

Make a memory this Sunday with your mother or with your kids...no matter what it is, it will be cherished. Happy Mother's Day!
